In a Facebook post on Oct 9, Prime Minister Lawrence Wong welcomed Indian Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on her second visit in two months.
“We had a good discussion on global economic developments, including how our two countries are navigating the challenges posed by the ongoing energy crisis. She also shared updates on developments in India, and the many new opportunities opening up for investment and cooperation,” said PM Wong in his post.
Ms Nirmala is planned to have several meetings with global investors as well as business and government leaders during her three-day visit from Oct 9 to Oct 11, to strengthen bilateral economic ties and explore investment opportunities.
Besides PM Wong, Ms Nirmala will also call on President Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Deputy Prime Minister Gan Kim Yong and Foreign Affairs Minister Vivian Balakrishnan.
The Finance Minister was previously in Singapore for the Fourth India-Singapore Ministerial Roundtable, along with Minister of External Affairs Dr S Jaishankar, Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal, and Minister of State for Ministry of Commerce & Industry and Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology Jitin Prasada.
