Theja Rio and Nancy Nisa Beso, the People Behind Angh: the Nagaland Film that is Being Considered for the Oscars

At the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), a group of about 40 Naga people in traditional attire were seated for Angh – the debut feature film by writer and director Theja Rio.

At this year’s Deepavali light-up ceremony, titled “Deepavali Festival 2026,” Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office and Second Minister for National Development Indranee Rajah inaugurated the light-up by lighting the traditional lamp. She was joined by Dr Janil Puthucheary, Senior Minister of State for Education and Sustainability and the Environment; Alvin Tan, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and National Development; and Denise Phua, Member of Parliament.
