Homegrown music ensemble Re-inKarnation will take its music to Dubai on Nov 14, making its international debut at Firdaus Studio – a venue created in collaboration with Oscar-winning composer A.R. Rahman.

The concert titled ‘Oru Maalai: Live in Dubai’ will take place during the Deepavali festive season, bringing Singapore’s Tamil music scene to audiences in the UAE.

Singapore’s Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, Mr Kamal Vaswani, will attend as the Guest of Honour. Aimed at promoting bilateral cultural ties between Singapore and the UAE through music, the concert is organised by Akshara Kreations, supported by the Neelamani Foundation and presented in partnership with Storeys.

Titled ‘Re-inKarnation Oru Maalai: Live in Dubai’, the concert will feature Carnatic-inspired arrangements, live instrumentation and a DJ setup.

Directed and conceptualised by local musician Kaushik Suresh, who is a nominee for the National Arts Council’s Young Artist Award 2026, the concert features a mix of Carnatic-inspired arrangements, live instruments and a live DJ setup.

Audiences will be treated to an evening of more than 50 evergreen Tamil film hits alongside selected Malayalam and Hindi favorites. A key highlight of the night will be the live premiere of the band’s new indie single, ‘Unakaaga Thaane (Ksheera Sagara)’. Sung by father and daughter – Kaushik Suresh and Akshara Kaushik – together with Darshna Mahadevan, the track touchingly honours parental love and family relationships across distances.

Joining Kaushik on stage are Vijay TV Super Singer vocalist Ganesh Venkatraman, violinist Venkatesh, percussionist Ganesh Murusamy, DJ Gajendran, keyboardist Sheik Meera, and rising local talents Shivani Hariharan and Akshara Kaushik.

This international debut builds upon a series of performances across Singapore.

In September 2025, the ensemble collaborated with veena maestro Rajesh Vaidhya for ‘Raagangal 16’, a three-hour concert at PGP Hall of Sri Srinivasa Perumal Temple. The performance featured more than 50 live mashups spanning generations of Tamil music, from MGR-era classics to contemporary hits, without pre-recorded backing tracks.

The group also staged ‘Re-inKarnation Thiruvizha’ for the Tamil Language Festival in April 2026, where the Guest of Honour, Minister of State for Culture, Community and Youth, Manpower Dinesh Vasu Dash, joined attendees in singing along to a fast-paced 70-song medley.

In May 2026, they partnered with Tamil Murasu for ‘Aura 10/10’, bringing together about 50 youths aged 18 to 25 for discussions on financial planning, learning from failure and family relationships. Familiar Tamil songs served as conversation starters, offering an interactive alternative to conventional talks.

Most recently, their ‘Super Sing Along’ concert at the School of the Arts in September 2026, drew over 600 attendees as part of the Tamil Youth Festival. The two-hour performance featured a 60-song medley with Vijay TV Super Singer vocalist Pooja Vaidyanath alongside a debut performance by a children’s ensemble.
