Singapore encourages North Korea to keep dialogue channels open amid global uncertainty

Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan visited Pyongyang from May 26 to 27 at the invitation of his North Korean counterpart, Ms Choe Son Hui, marking 50 years of diplomatic relations between the countries.

Dr Balakrishnan encouraged North Korea to attend the ASEAN Regional Forum, a diplomatic and security dialogue, to maintain good communication amid ongoing global uncertainty.

“Our ties are friendly, built on mutual respect and continued engagement over the decades,” Dr Balakrishnan wrote on Facebook.
