The United States State Department said in a notice to Congress on June 30 that it had approved a possible sale of 67 AGM-114R Hellfire missiles to Singapore as part of a proposed defence package valued at US$22.3 million. Hellfire missiles are a type of precision-guided, air-to-ground missile.
The US State Department said that the proposed sale will “support the foreign policy and national security objectives of the United States by improving the security of a strategic partner that is an important force for political stability and economic progress in Asia”.
