Air quality in Singapore remained in the unhealthy range on Wednesday morning, but thundery showers over some areas in the afternoon could bring some reprieve.

At 9am, PSI ranged from 106 in northern Singapore to 144 in the western region.

The next highest readings of 142 and 139 were recorded in the central and eastern regions respectively.

Meanwhile, PM2.5 is in the elevated band across all five regions, with central Singapore recording the highest concentration reading of 98.

Elsewhere, the next highest concentration reading was 83 in southern Singapore.

According to the National Environment Agency’s weather microsite, thundery showers are forecast mainly over northern, western and central Singapore in the afternoon.

But the agency also pointed out in its daily haze situation update on Tuesday evening that with dry conditions expected to persist over parts of southern Sumatra and Kalimantan, coupled with the prevailing winds, smoke haze may still drift towards Singapore.

The city state’s 24-hour PSI forecast till this evening is expected to remain in the unhealthy range.

Members of the public should check the latest PM2.5 readings before participating in outdoor activities. ASIAONE
