Popular food spots Tekka Centre and Adam Road Food Centres will be closed on certain days this month (Sept) for spring cleaning, the National Environment Agency (NEA) said early this week.
The iconic Tekka Centre in Little India houses several well-known hawker stalls such as Jaan West (mee goreng), Allauddin’s Biryani, Haji Johan (rojak), and Delhi Lahori (naan) and will be closed on Sept 21–22. Adam Road has Bahrakath (mutton soup) and Selera Rasa Nasi Lemak. Newton Food Centre is also due for cleaning on Sept. 7.
Some 88 food centres will be cleaned in total this month, including the above. They are:

Cleaning at hawker centres owned by the Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment is conducted by National Environment Agency (NEA), while town councils are responsible for cleaning HDB hawker centres.
Such cleaning is conducted regularly so that Singaporeans can enjoy affordable food in a clean and hygienic environment, NEA said on its website.
