Singapore’s Night Safari has welcomed its first Sunda pangolin pup in a decade, a significant milestone for the critically endangered species. Born on March 1, 2026 to first-time parents Gumby and Radin, the healthy newborn is now nearly three weeks old and exhibiting natural behaviours, including clinging to its mother’s tail.
Another female, Bawang, is also expecting, raising hopes for further progress in conservation breeding. The birth supports ongoing efforts by Mandai Wildlife Group to better understand pangolin health, behaviour and reproduction. Globally threatened by illegal wildlife trade and habitat risks such as road collisions, Sunda pangolins remain difficult to breed in human care.
The pup is expected to make its public debut in April, while visitors can currently witness a live feed at the park’s Pangolin Trail.
