Professor Arvind Krishnamurthy Appointed MAS Distinguished Term Professor at NUS

National University of Singapore and the Monetary Authority of Singapore have jointly named Professor Arvind Krishnamurthy as the MAS Distinguished Term Professor in Economics and Finance for the period of 18 to 28 February 2026.

During his appointment, Professor Krishnamurthy will be hosted by the NUS Business School’s Department of Real Estate as well as MAS’s Economic Policy Group.

Professor Krishnamurthy currently holds the John S. Osterweis Professorship of Finance at the Stanford Graduate School of Business. 

He is also a Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research, the Stanford Institute for Economic Policy Research, and the Asian Bureau of Finance and Economic Research. In addition, he serves as co-editor of the Journal of Finance – Insights & Perspectives, and previously held associate editor roles at the Journal of Finance and other leading macroeconomics journals.

Professor Andrew Kenan Rose, Dean of NUS Business School, said, “Professor Arvind Krishnamurthy abundantly satisfies the requirement of MAS Distinguished Term Professor; he is an eminent scholar working at the interface of finance and economics whose expertise extends across academic and policy spheres.”

As part of his visit, Professor Krishnamurthy will present a public lecture at NUS on 24 February 2026 titled “Dollar Dominance”. During the lecture, he will explore how the U.S. dollar’s pivotal position in global finance, trade, and contractual arrangements influences financial systems and macroeconomic outcomes in both the United States and other economies.
