A total of 68 Members of Parliament (MPs) spoke across three days of debate.

In his Budget wrap-up speech, PM Wong promised that the push for the adoption of artificial intelligence across the country will be pro-worker, and its resulting growth will not result in jobless growth.

Whether the Government is hoarding surpluses and taking more money out of the economy than necessary was the focal point of the Opposition’s critique of the Budget. PM Wong countered that the projections were not overly conservative, considering how Singapore’s growth outcomes are susceptible to evolving global conditions.

MPs also raised various ideas to tweak how much Singapore taxes, and from whom, given that wealth inequality was found to be higher than income inequality. Several MPs also asked for schemes like CDC vouchers to be better tiered to better address the needs of larger families and lower-income households.
