Nominations for the Singapore Silent Heroes (SSH) 2026 Awards were officially launched on March 5, 2026 during the Impact for Humanity Symposium, held at Republic Polytechnic.

Members of the public are now invited to nominate individuals who have made meaningful contributions within their communities.

Shortlisted finalists will be featured on SSH’s digital platforms to raise public awareness and appreciation, while final recipients will be selected by an independent judging panel. Winners will be announced at the Singapore Silent Heroes Awards Ceremony in September 2026.

The awards are presented across five categories:

- Heart of Humanity

- Inspiring Youth

- Outstanding Adult

- Pioneer of Promise

- Compassionate Foreigner

First introduced in 2014, the Singapore Silent Heroes Awards recognise individuals who demonstrate compassion, courage, and dedication in serving others, often without seeking recognition or rewards. Over the years, the initiative has highlighted everyday individuals whose acts of service help build stronger and more resilient communities across Singapore.

Since its inception, Singapore Silent Heroes has received more than 1,200 nominations from members of the public.

To date, 62 individuals have been formally recognised through the awards, forming part of a wider alumni network of more than 140 Silent Heroes. Each year the alumni collectively participate in more than 10 engagement initiatives guided by SSH’s four pillars: compassion, resilience, service, and community leadership.

“Breaking Barriers” Initiative Expands Impact

The initiative, which was highlighted during the event, uses lived stories to inspire empathy and resilience through community conversations. One of its key platforms is the Human Library, where Silent Heroes and alumni share their personal journeys in small-group dialogues designed to break stereotypes and encourage reflection.

In partnership with Republic Polytechnic, the initiative also introduced a youth changemaker workshop. The programme combines design thinking, learning journeys with community partners and SSH alumni, and a final showcase where students present ideas and lessons gained from their experiences.

The Impact for Humanity Symposium carried the theme “The Power of Humanity”, focusing on how social values influence everyday decisions and actions, particularly among young people.

Panel participants included Ms Ang Bee Lian, Senior Advisor at the Ministry of Social and Family Development, Mr David Chua, Chief Executive Officer of the National Youth Council, Dr Trina Tan, Senior Lecturer at Republic Polytechnic, and Mr MP Sellvem, Founding Chairman of Singapore Silent Heroes.
