The Centre for Singapore Tamil Culture (CSTC) will be hosting an event to promote intercultural understanding of the Singapore Sikh community at the National Library Building on Nov 25 at 5pm.
The event by the CSTC is a collaboration with the National Library Board, in association with the Singapore Khalsa Association (SKA), Sikh Advisory Board and Young Sikhs Association.
“This event is a fitting reflection of the contributions that the Sikh community has made in building our nation, since the days of Stamford Raffles,” said programme coordinator and CSTC assistant chief executive Elavazhagan Murugan.
SKA president Hernaikh Singh said: “Who are the Sikhs? What are the core tenets of Sikhism? What takes place in the gurdwara? What are the ideas behind the ‘langar’ or the communal meals? These are some of the questions we wish to answer through this event.”
