LASALLE College of the Arts has appointed Dr. Venka Purushothaman as its seventh President, effective February 2026. The appointment marks a significant leadership transition as Dr. Venka takes over from Professor Steve Dixon, who is retiring after 14 years at the helm.

Dr. Venka, who previously served as LASALLE’s Deputy President and Provost, has been instrumental in advancing the college’s academic and institutional development. Over the years, he has played a key role in elevating LASALLE’s global profile, spearheading initiatives that integrate creative practice with global knowledge economies while promoting intercultural and interdisciplinary learning.

Dr. Venka’s connection to LASALLE dates back to 2000, when he first joined as a lecturer. His extensive career includes pivotal roles at major cultural institutions such as The Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay, the National Arts Council of Singapore, and the Victorian Arts Centre in Melbourne, Australia.

In his statement following the appointment, Dr. Venka expressed his excitement for the role. “I’m truly honoured to serve as LASALLE’s President, after witnessing the growth of the College for over 25 years. I look forward to spearheading transformative academic and organisational developments, and advancing LASALLE’s role in the global knowledge economy,” he said.

He brings deep experience and expertise in the arts and education, as well as a long-standing track record of significant contributions to the College and Singapore that speaks for itself,” said said Peter Seah, Chairman of LASALLE.
