Approximately 1,000 volunteers, including Singapore citizens, permanent residents, and migrant employees, will take to the streets on Dec 20 as part of an islandwide ‘Street Collection’ to raise funds for Gaza Relief.

Organised by Humanity Matters, a non-profit organisation leading relief efforts from Singapore to Gaza, the island-wide fundraising drive is happening in conjunction with the UN International Human Solidarity Day and the weekend before Christmas.

The volunteers will carry donation cans and distribute stickers labelled ‘One Nation, One Humanity’ to the public.

Humanity Matters constantly drives reminders to its volunteers that the Israel-Hamas conflict is very complex, involving multiple dimensions and dynamics said Deputy Chairman Noor Mohamaed Marican.

“Regardless, what is paramount is that we must remain united and compassionate,” he said.

From November 2023 to last August, Humanity Matters has successfully delivered over 84.4 tonnes of relief supplies to Gaza, including via air drops.

These relief items were provided to address the hunger, hydration, hygiene, and health needs of the affected Gaza civilians.

President Tharman Shanmugaratnam observed the contributions from multi-ethnic chambers of commerce and businesses in Singapore during a fundraising event for Gaza relief in March 2024.

In March this year, Prime Minister Lawrence Wong and Minister for Home Affairs and Minister for Law K Shanmugam both participated in the relief packing of 5,000 ‘Kidz Comfort Packs’ for Gaza.

The Street Collection for Gaza Relief event falls under Humanity Matters’ broader fundraising campaign, which began on Nov 25 will conclude on Feb 26, 2026.
