As the first step in its international expansion, JioHotstar launched in Singapore today (Sept 2) to offer its extensive entertainment offerings.
The Indian streaming platform has more than 160,000 hours of content across films, originals, reality programmes and television shows, spanning more than 12 Asian languages, and adds around 30,000 hours of new content annually.
In a statement, the platform said the launch in Singapore introduces “product innovation, interactive viewing and new ways for audiences to discover, watch and participate”.
As part of that initiative, Bigg Boss will be interactive. Starting on Sept 6, Bigg Boss Tamil, hosted by Vijay Sethupathi, Bigg Boss Malayalam with Mohanlal, Bigg Boss Telugu with Nagarjuna, Bigg Boss Kannada with Kichcha Sudeepa and Bigg Boss Hindi with Salman Khan will premiere together on JioHotstar, with Bigg Boss Bangla already live.
For the first time ever, Singapore audiences can have their say in the game with live voting across every edition.
The day before, audiences can witness Anil Kapoor hosting India Ka Top 1 Percent in an all-new game format, putting contestants’ logic and reasoning
Combining an intuitive, modern interface with ultra-personalised recommendation engines, the platform caters for Singapore’s multilingual audience, with high-quality subtitles and dubbing across several languages, including English, Hindi, Tamil, Gujarati, Malayalam, Kannada, Marathi.
JioHotstar offers flexible subscription options in Singapore - a quarterly plan at $29.98 and an annual plan at $69.98. Existing Hotstar subscribers transition seamlessly without any service disruption using their current credentials, while new users can easily sign up directly via the App Store and Google Play Store across mobile and connected TV devices.
