The Indian Air Force’s celebrated Sarang Helicopter Display Team returned to Singapore’s skies on Feb 5, delivering a high-energy aerial performance at the Singapore Airshow 2026.
The team, which last appeared in Singapore in 2024, will continue its displays during the biennial airshow held from February 3 to 9 at the Changi Exhibition Centre.
Sarang – meaning “peacock” in Sanskrit – is the world’s only four-helicopter military aerobatic team. It flies the indigenously developed Dhruv Advanced Light Helicopter, highlighting India’s growing aerospace and defence manufacturing capabilities.
Painted in a striking red-and-white livery with stylised peacock graphics, the team opened its display with an “I” formation flypast as a salute to India.
The helicopters then transitioned into fluid, close-formation manoeuvres, performing dramatic vertical and horizontal cross-overs that showcased precision handling and tight coordination.
During the trade-visitor display, two Sarang helicopters traced a heart shape in the bright Singapore sky, drawing loud applause from the spectators.
The finale paid tribute to the strong bilateral ties between India and Singapore, with red and white smoke flares released during intersecting vertical and horizontal manoeuvres.
The Sarang team operates the HAL Dhruv ALH Mk-I helicopters built by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited. The aircraft’s agility enables signature formations such as the Sarang Split, Diamond Formation, and the Wine Glass, all requiring exceptional pilot synchronisation.
Marking its 10th edition, Singapore Airshow 2026 brings together more than 1,000 companies from over 50 countries and regions, reinforcing its status as one of Asia’s largest aerospace and defence exhibitions.
Tickets for the weekend@airshow are available via SISTIC, priced at S$39 for adults, S$19 for children aged three to 12, and S$250 for a group package (four tickets plus one car park label).
