This year’s Panguni Uthiram was observed on April 1 at Holy Tree Sri Balasubramaniar Temple in Yishun, drawing thousands of worshippers.
Minister for Health and Coordinating Minister for Social Policies, Ong Ye Kung, graced the event as the Guest of Honour, accompanied by members of Sembawang GRC. Minister for Home Affairs, K. Shanmugam, also visited the festival.
Chants of “Vetrivel Muruganuku Arohara!” reverberated throughout the temple as about 3,000 devotees carried milk pots and kavadis to fulfil their vows.
To better manage the large turnout, this year’s festival saw the introduction of three separate lanes for general devotees, milk pot carriers, and kavadi bearers. Live-streaming was also introduced to cater to those who were unable to make it to the festival in person.
Over 150 volunteers also worked tirelessly to provide a seamless experience for all devotees.
