Deepavali festivities in Little India officially launched with a vibrant light-up ceremony on Birch Road. Guest of Honour Ms Indranee Rajah, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office, officiated the event, which featured cultural performances, traditional music, and dance. Organised by LISHA, the Ramayana-themed light-up runs alongside virtual heritage tours, workshops, and festive markets spanning across October and November.
Ms Indranee was joined by Dr Janil Puthucheary, Senior Minister of State for Education and Sustainability and the Environment; Alvin Tan, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and National Development; and Denise Phua, Member of Parliament.
“Through such celebrations, our heritage remains vibrant and thrives. It is important to continuously protect, share, and pass these traditions down to the next generation. When people from diverse backgrounds join together to participate in these celebrations, our traditions grow stronger,” said Ms Indranee.
