Singapore will take over the ASEAN Chairmanship from the Philippines in 2027. Philippines President Ferdinand Marcos Jr met Prime Minister Lawrence Wong during his work visit here to discuss the countries’ relations and a smooth transition in leadership.
The two countries will also continue strengthening ASEAN’s unity and resilience in a more uncertain world, PM Wong said in a Facebook post on July 15.
“We also discussed ways to strengthen the longstanding ties between our peoples,” he said, thanking President Marcos for his country’s leadership as ASEAN chair.
President Marcos, in his own Facebook post, said, “As close neighbours and partners in ASEAN, we will continue working together to keep our region peaceful, stable and open to greater opportunities for everyone.”
