The Keppel, Prince Edward Road, and Cantonment stations, which open on July 12, are decorated with new sculptures, murals and station designs.
Keppel station features sculptures of the endangered Indian elephant and black rhinoceros, as well as mural artwork by architect Kenneth Koh titled Uncontainable Dreams, which portrays different aspects of Keppel’s trading past, with illustrations of shipping containers.
Prince Edward Road station’s passenger service centre is modelled after a wooden ship’s hull, with ceiling panels that are made to mimic the waves of the ocean. Artist Gerald Leow placed his piece Doppler along the walls, which features stainless steel fragments that shift in colour based on the viewer’s position.
Last but not least, Cantonment station features a tall, curved ceiling with an analogue clock on one side, highlighting the interchange stations on the Circle Line. Stainless steel droplet-like sculptures embellish the walls as part of The Journey Between artwork by Cultural Medallion recipient Han Sai Por.
