Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi turned 75 on Sept 17, with wishes pouring in from across the world and diverse celebrations held across India.

True to his style, Mr Modi marked the day with work – launching the Empowering Women and Families for a Healthier India and inaugurating development projects in Dhar, Madhya Pradesh – rather than personal festivities.

Across India, events reflected service and culture: a 75kg laddoo was unveiled in Delhi, where Chief Minister Rekha Gupta led a blood donation drive, and sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik sculpted a beach tribute in Puri, Odisha.

Students in Chandigarh wore Modi masks to mark the occasion.

Meanwhile, the 7th e-auction of Mr Modi’s mementoes was launched, running until Oct 2.
