India explores rare-earth deal with Myanmar rebels
India is exploring rare-earth samples from Myanmar with the help of the Kachin Independence Army, a powerful rebel group, reported Reuters.
The Ministry of Mines has tasked state-run IREL and private firm Midwest Advanced Materials to assess ores from Kachin-controlled mines.
Samples will be tested domestically for heavy rare earth content, crucial for magnets used in electric vehicles and advanced technology, as New Delhi seeks alternatives to China’s dominance in the sector.
TN CM says 33 MoUs signed during Germany, UK visit
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin announced 33 MoUs worth Rs15,516 crore (S$2.25 billion) were signed during his Germany and UK visit, creating 17,613 jobs.
He said 10 companies will enter Tamil Nadu while 17 others expand locally.
Calling Tamil Nadu the “Germany of India,” Mr Stalin highlighted its strong manufacturing sector and MSMEs. He defended such trips as vital in boosting investor confidence, noting many German firms responded positively after his presentations.
Four killed in Kashmir clash
Two soldiers and two suspected militants were killed after a fierce two-day gun battle in Kulgam, south Kashmir.
Security forces had launched a search operation on Sept 8 after intelligence of militant movement. The exchange of heavy gunfire left both sides with fatalities, officials said.
The army’s Chinar Corps condoled the soldiers’ deaths, while the identities of the slain militants are being investigated amid ongoing tensions in the region.
New SUV flies out of showroom as ritual goes wrong
A brand-new Mahindra Thar plunged from a showroom’s first floor in Delhi’s Preet Vihar after its owner’s wife accidentally hit the accelerator during a ritual involving crushing lemons under the tyres.
The SUV smashed through the glass and fell onto the road. Three people were inside but escaped with minor injuries.
The shocking scene was caught on video, quickly going viral online, showing the overturned car outside the shattered showroom wall.
Glitch on Air India Singapore-bound plane
Over 200 passengers on Air India’s Delhi-Singapore flight AI2380 were forced to deplane after nearly two hours onboard due to faulty air-conditioning and electrical systems.
The Dreamliner, scheduled to depart at 11pm on Wednesday, remained grounded. Frustrated fliers were escorted back to the terminal without any official explanation from the airline.
Hospital hid rat bite on newborn, claims father
The father of a newborn girl who died at Indore’s state-run MY Hospital alleged the administration concealed that she was bitten by a rat in the ICU.
Mr Sajid Khan, a farmer, accused officials of negligence and misleading the family.
Two newborns died between Aug 31 and Sept 1, reportedly after rodent bites. The hospital insists congenital deformities caused their deaths, sparking outrage and questions over patient safety standards.
Delhi to microchip 1 million stray dogs, draft rabies plan
Delhi’s Animal Welfare Board on Sept 10 announced plans to microchip one million stray dogs, regulate pet shops, and launch a rabies action plan following a Supreme Court ruling.
Minister Kapil Mishra said accurate data and digital vaccination records will aid control efforts. The plan includes dog census, monitoring committees, and awareness drives.

Man wanted in Delhi double murder arrested after 13 years
Delhi Police arrested Lalan Kumar, accused in a 2012 double murder case, after 13 years on the run.
Kumar, 33, carried a Rs100,000 bounty and was declared a proclaimed offender in 2012. He allegedly conspired in killing a truck driver and a helper.
Police tracked him to Bihar’s Madhepura district, arrested him on Sept 4, and brought him to Delhi on transit remand for further investigation and court proceedings.
Brothers arrested with rifle in Mumbai security breach case
Mumbai Police arrested brothers Rakesh and Umesh Duballa from Telangana for stealing a rifle and 40 rounds of ammunition from Mumbai’s Navy Nagar, a high-security zone.
One impersonated a Quick Response Team member to trick a sailor, later tossing the rifle to his brother outside. CCTV footage exposed the theft. Both were caught after a four-day manhunt.
New case filed against Anil Ambani in alleged bank fraud
The Enforcement Directorate has filed a fresh money laundering case against Anil Ambani, Reliance Communications (RCom), and others in connection with a Rs2,929 crore bank fraud.
The action follows a Central Bureau of Investigation first information report accusing Ambani of causing losses to the State Bank of India (SBI).
Searches were carried out at six Mumbai locations linked to RCom. SBI had already classified Mr Ambani and RCom as “fraud” in June, alerting the Reserve Bank of India. Investigations into fund misuse continue.
Cook earning Rs10,000 gets Rs46 crore tax notice
A cook from Madhya Pradesh, earning rs10,000 a month, received a shocking Rs46 crore income tax notice linked to a Delhi bank account fraudulently opened in his name.
Mr Ravindra Singh Chauhan says a supervisor duped him into opening the account in 2019. Transactions worth Rs46 crore were routed through it.
Mr Ravindra now spends his days between tax offices and police stations, his financial condition worsening dramatically.
