Accused in Delhi car bomb attack appears in court
Anti-terror investigators on Nov 17 produced Amir Rashid Ali in a New Delhi court over the Nov 10 car bomb that killed at least 10 people.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) alleges that he conspired with suspected suicide bomber Umar Un Nabi and says another aide, Jasir Bilal Wani, modified drones and tried to build rockets.
Ali has been remanded to NIA custody for 10 days.
Andhra Governor to lead team to Saudi after Madina crash
Andhra Pradesh Governor S. Abdul Nazeer will lead a high-level delegation to Saudi Arabia to oversee relief efforts after a bus carrying Indian Umrah pilgrims crashed near Madina on Nov 17.
Of the 46 passengers on board, 45 died when the bus collided with an oil tanker and caught fire. The delegation will also attend the last rites of the deceased.
India seals US LPG deal amid energy pressure
India has signed a one-year deal to import 2.2 million tonnes of LPG from the United States Gulf Coast, covering nearly 10 per cent of its annual LPG imports.
Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri called it India’s first “structured” US LPG contract and part of efforts to diversify supplies, as refiners reassess Russian crude purchases following fresh US and European Union sanctions.
Modi-led NDA sweeps Bihar assembly polls
Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s National Democratic Alliance (NDA) scored a landslide in the Bihar assembly elections, winning 202 of 243 seats, far above the 122 needed for a majority.
The Bharatiya Janata Party alone secured 89 seats.
The high-stakes election, fought amid concern over unemployment, law and order and electoral roll issues, is seen as a major endorsement of Mr Modi and his regional allies.
Nine killed in blast at Kashmir police station
At least nine people were killed and 27 injured when confiscated explosives blew up at a police station in Jammu and Kashmir on Nov 14.
The dead include police personnel, government officials and forensic staff examining the material.
Police chief Nalin Prabhat said initial findings indicate an accidental blast, stressing there was no sign of militant involvement.
Delhi chokes as AQI hits 400, set to worsen
Delhi’s air quality index (AQI) touched 400 on Nov 20, on the cusp of the “severe” category, as toxic smog hung over the city amid low winds and dropping temperatures.
Wazirpur recorded a “severe’ AQI of 477, while Lodhi Road was comparatively better at 269. Forecasts warn air quality may remain in the “very poor” to “severe” range for six days.
India slips 13 spots in global climate index
India has fallen from “high” to “medium” performer in the Climate Change Performance Index 2026, dropping 13 places to 23rd.
The report cites the absence of a national coal exit timeline and continued auction of new coal blocks.
It also notes India’s role as a major producer of oil, gas and coal, despite improvements in some other climate indicators.

Wayanad Cyber Police have arrested 29-year-old K Ashkar from Alappuzha for creating and circulating an AI-generated video of a fabricated zipline accident involving a woman and child.
Shared via his Ashkar Ali Reacts social media handle, the clip went viral and caused panic, reported NDTV.
Police registered a first information report (FIR) on Oct 30 and traced the source to Ashkar during their probe.
Tesla to open first full-fledged India centre in Gurugram
Tesla will open its first full-scale India centre in Gurugram this month, stepping up its push into a market dominated by European luxury EV brands.
The move follows experience centres in Mumbai and Delhi and the launch of fully imported Model Y variants, priced from Rs59.89 lakh (S$88,000).
Despite steep import duties, Tesla registered 104 retail units in September–October.
Aadhaar may shift to photo-plus-QR-only card
The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) is considering issuing Aadhaar cards (a 12-digit identification number which serves as a proof of identity and address) that display only a photo and QR code, with no printed demographic details, to curb data misuse, and discourage illegal offline verification.
CEO Bhuvnesh Kumar said a new rule could be taken up in December. The Aadhaar Act already bars entities such as hotels and event organisers from collecting and storing card photocopies.
Police probing if Bengaluru cash van heist was inside job
Police are probing a possible inside role in the Rs7 crore (S$1 million) Bengaluru cash van heist, interrogating four security staff and seizing their phones for forensic checks.
All four have reportedly given similar statements and denied any involvement in the robbery.
Investigators are analysing call logs and deleted data as the robbers, who posed as Reserve Bank of India officials, remain at large.
