Women in Phayeng village, north of the Manipuri capital Imphal, set up a road block to control the ethnic conflict in the state.

The state government on Wednesday extended the suspension of mobile data Internet services until Oct 16 to prevent the spread of hate messages. Mobile data services in some districts were suspended on May 3, following ethnic violence and all Internet services were shut down across the state the following day.

The ongoing ethnic conflict has claimed 178 lives, injured at least 1,430 and displaced 50,000 others.
