The blooming of almond trees at the historic Badamwari Garden in Srinagar has signalled the arrival of spring in Jammu and Kashmir, drawing visitors eager to witness the Valley’s first seasonal blossoms.

Director of Floriculture Mathora Masoom said the garden traditionally marks the beginning of spring in Kashmir, as almond blossoms are among the earliest flowers to bloom.

Spread across nearly 15 hectares at the foothills of Koh-e-Maraan, Badamwari Garden is home to more than 1,000 almond trees whose delicate pink and white flowers transform the landscape into a vibrant spectacle.

The Floriculture Department has planted around 300 new almond trees and improved pathways, fountains, and decorative planters to enhance the visitor experience. Seasonal flowers such as daffodils, pansies, and tulips have also been added.

Officials are preparing to host the annual Badamwari spring festival, expected to be inaugurated by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah in the coming days.
