NPS International School (NPSI) marked a significant milestone in its sporting journey with a grand, Grammy-style Sports Awards ceremony on April 25 at the Singapore University of Technology and Design auditorium.
The evening celebrated not only the achievements of its athletes but also the discipline, resilience, and commitment that define the school’s sporting ethos, with an audience of over 1,100 parents, students, and members of the school community in attendance.
What began in 2008 with a single competitive team has grown into a thriving sports programme comprising over 800 student athletes. Today, NPSI fields representative teams that collectively participate in more than 400 fixtures each year.
Over the past 18 years, the school has produced 24 national-level athletes who have gone on to represent Singapore, particularly in cricket, along with several top-ranked performers in individual sports such as athletics, tennis, and badminton.
In line with its long-term vision, the school has also introduced specialised coaching programmes for students as young as six, reinforcing its belief in nurturing talent early. This growing ecosystem is supported by a dedicated sports department of seven full-time staff and 28 experienced part-time coaches.
The awards evening reflected the scale and strength of this journey. This year’s ceremony was notably larger, more refined, and more dynamic, mirroring the rapid growth of sport at NPSI.
The highlight of the evening was the recognition of outstanding athletes across categories. Eshan Malik was named Most Promising Player of the Year (Junior), while Anaiya Anand received the Senior honour in the same category. Trisha Vishnuprasad was awarded Sportsperson of the Year (Junior), and the prestigious Senior title was presented to Aswath Deepak Ramachandran, each exemplifying excellence, consistency, and sporting spirit.
The event was graced by distinguished guests, including Toh Wei Soong, a national para swimmer who has represented Singapore at international competitions such as the ASEAN Para Games. Known for his perseverance and commitment to inclusivity in sport, he continues to inspire athletes across the country.
Also in attendance was Avi Dixit, a national cricketer who has represented Singapore in international tournaments. Beyond his performances on the field, he is a prominent voice in the cricketing community and a digital influencer, actively promoting the sport and engaging young athletes.
Both guests shared insights from their sporting journeys, reinforcing the values of dedication, resilience, and passion among the students.
