The Madras High Court has ordered the seizure of Tamil cinema icon Sivaji Ganesan’s house after the late actor’s grandson Dushyant (son of Ramkumar, photo right) failed to repay a Rs3.74-crore loan, according to a report by local daily Dinamalar. It is likely to be auctioned soon.

Dushyant and his wife Abhirami, partners in Easan Productions, borrowed the money to produce a film named Jegajala Killadi starring Vishnu Vishal and Nivetha Pethuraj. The loan reportedly carried an interest of 30 per cent per annum. But the film was never completed, leading the lender, Dhanapakiyam Enterprises, to file a case in the High Court.

Sivaji, who died in 2001 at the age of 72, is hailed by many as the most prolific actor in the Tamil film industry.
