Filmmaker Shekhar Kapur (left) says he still considers Mr. India one of his most defining works, thanks largely to the late Sridevi’s (right) unforgettable performance.
In a recent Filmfare interview, Shekhar revealed she filmed one of the hit songs while battling a 39.4 deg C fever, never once letting it show. He said choreographers only later informed him of her condition.
Calling Sridevi “the soul of Mr. India”, Shekhar shared that she even studied Charlie Chaplin to perfect her iconic moustache comedy scene. He credits her dedication and brilliance for elevating the film into legendary status.
