The Syro-Malabar Catholic Community in Singapore came together in joyful celebration of Dukrana (Feast of St Thomas the Apostle) on Sunday, July 12 at the Holy Innocent’s High School in Hougang.
The day was filled with prayer and included a theatrical production that brought to life the journey of the Apostle who brought Christianity to India. With an estimated attendance of around 600, the celebrations commenced at 10am with the Rasa Holy Qurbana (mass).
The event was organised by the Syro-Malabar Catholic Singapore Executive Committee, under the leadership of President Biju George Dukrana in-charge George Devasia.
Following the liturgical celebrations, the devotees gathered for a fellowship lunch, while additional food stalls created a festive atmosphere that encouraged families and friends to spend the day together in celebration.
After the fellowship, the highlight of the day was the presentation of a spectacular stage drama depicting the life, mission, faith journey, and martyrdom of St Thomas the Apostle.
The drama was directed by Fr. Fijo Joseph Alappadan and coordinated by Mrs. Dulsy Paul, featuring a cast and crew of more than 150 artistes, making it one of the largest theatrical productions ever staged by the Syro-Malabar Catholic Community in Singapore.
“Their shared commitment created not only an outstanding production but also strengthened relationships and fostered a deeper sense of belonging within the community,” Ms Paul said.
