Veteran actress Hema Malini, one of the most loved faces on the silver screen, has revealed that her debut film did not go well as the filmmaker didn’t find her “good enough”.
The 74-year-old told Lehren Retro that she changed her name to Sujata after Tamil filmmaker CV Sridhar signed her for a film that would star Jayalalithaa (who went on to become Tamil Nadu chief minister). But after shooting for four days, she was rejected.
“It was a big jolt to me. But I took it as a challenge and made it my life goal to work harder and do my best,” she said.
Soon after the incident in 1968, Hema made her debut with Sapno Ka Saudagar.
