Indian-Australian actress Chandrika Ravi (left) took to Instagram on Dec 2 to announce she was doing a film on legendary “vamp” Silk Smitha (right), who died by suicide in 1996.
Titled Silk Smitha: The Untold Story, it will be directed by Jayaram Sankaran, who worked on the Tamil series Sweet Kaaram Coffee.
Smitha, whose real name was Vijayalakshmi Vadlapati, skyrocketed to fame playing a dancer called Silk in the 1980 film Vandichakkaram.
