Amaan Ali Bangash and Ayaan Ali Bangash, who are the seventh generation of the musical lineage of the Senia Bangash School, will be performing in Singapore on Sept 9.
“We will be presenting ragas from both north and south Indian traditions and folk music from India,” Ayaan told tabla!.
The sons of the great sarod maestro Amjad Ali Khan last performed in Singapore in January 2020, playing their father’s Sarod Concerto with Singapore Chinese Orchestra.
This time, they will be accompanied by Indian artist Satyajit Talwalkar on the tabla and Singapore exponent Madrasmail Kajan on the mridangam.
“Just like how we use flowers in worship and celebrations, we arrange musical notes into ‘bouquets’ or compositions that display all our human feelings and emotions,” said Amaan.
“We really look forward to this symphony of cultures coming together in Singapore.”
Last year, Amaan and Ayaan released their album Sand And Foam, a jazzy fusion of Eastern and Western artistic traditions that reflects the eclectic works of Lebanese writer and painter Kahlil Gibran.
