LISTEN: That Girl
Paramjeet Kaur, a.k.a. Param, is a rapper from Punjab, whose latest single That Girl is one of the top 10 trending songs on Instagram as of Oct 2. The hip-hop track, released on Sept 19, seamlessly layers the 19-year-old’s spit-fire rap style and raw, youthful energy with a synth-heavy production.
The accompanying music video has amassed 4.8 million views on YouTube, featuring a bare-faced Param in an oversized tee and cargo pants, rapping alongside the neighbourhood kids in a local alleyway of tin-roof houses. She signed with independent, London-based label Collab Creations, led by British record producer Manni Sandhu, in April 2025, and previously collaborated on a single, titled Famous, with Punjabi singer Chinna that was released in July this year to positive reviews from critics and netizens alike.

The theatrical Tamil action film Madharaasi, which released on Sept 5, is now available to stream on Amazon Prime Video. Hailed by critics as a return to form for director A. R. Murugadoss, whose previous hits include Vijay’s Thuppaki (2012), Madharaasi is about a man with post-breakup suicidal inclinations, who unexpectedly gets involved in an operation to stop a syndicate’s distribution of guns across Tamil Nadu.
Sivakarthikeyan stars as the likeable protagonist, Raghu, who develops a rare disorder known as Fregoli delusion, in which the affected person mistakenly believes that different strangers they encounter are actually the same familiar person in disguise, following the tragic death of his family. This creates a unique plot as Raghu’s delusions make him believe the bad guys he’s sent to take out are his late family members in need of help.
