Sifas (Singapore Indian Fine Arts Society) Productions’ original dance and music production Human|Nature uses the intricate and expressive language of Bharatanatyam to explore humanity’s intricate relationship with Earth.

It delves into the essence of our existence, and the facets of human greed and its impact, while the dancers gracefully depict what it means for the future.

The premiere, which will be staged at the Esplanade Theatre Studio as part of Esplanade’s Raga series, serves as a poignant reminder of the consequences of our actions – where unchecked human greed has exploited the Earth’s abundant resources.

The compositions by Karthik Raveendran, Sushma Soma and Sumesh Narayanan weave a sonorous tapestry that complements the dancers’ storytelling and the rhythm of Maheshaswamy’s jathi pieces adds emotional depth to it.

Human|Nature transcends the traditional boundaries of a dance performance – a testament to the artists’ dedication and creativity.

The production showcases the talents of Sifas alumni and students Anuja Varaprasad, Lavanya Rengarajan, Preethi Devarajan, Renisha Mukkam and Sruti Pegatraju.

The performers also played pivotal roles in the show’s choreography and conceptualisation.
