Comedian, actor and host Rishi Budhrani’s (left) latest stand-up show explores his identity as an “artificial Indian”.

He asks himself, “Am I really Indian? Am I really Singaporean? Am I really a comedian?” and delves into artificial intelligence.

“As a comedian, everywhere I go, I have to explain who I am and where I’m from,” said Rishi.

“And as a second-generation Singaporean Indian of Sindhi origin born to a family of tailors, it’s a little complicated.

“When I say I’m from Singapore, I get the standard ‘but you don’t look like the people from Singapore’. But, when I visit India, it’s ‘this boy is from Singapore, he is not really Indian’.

“These make it tough for me to define my geographical existence. But I’m not alone. It’s a concept of identity and belonging we all struggle with in some way.”

Rishi hopes to answer this issue in as many ways as possible during his show.

Will there be his signature humour on the news, politics and racial issues of the country? You bet.
