As we step into 2026, many of us are embarking on new adventures and setting resolutions to define our trajectory for the year ahead. At tabla!, we are doing the same. This year marks a significant turning point as we deliver on the promises made in late 2025: to enhance our content, refine our delivery, and evolve alongside our readers.
To achieve this, the next two editions of tabla! will undergo an iterative transformation. We are reimagining our layout to better reflect our priorities, starting with a stronger focus on home-grown news.
What’s Changing?
We are moving the local news section forward. Similar to our popular “India in 2 Minutes,” we are introducing “Singapore in 2 Minutes” on page 2. This will serve as a curated “In Case You Missed It” (ICYMI) digest of essential local highlights. Page 3 will now house our key Singapore stories, ensuring that the pulse of our city is felt the moment you open the paper.
Our community-centric focus continues on pages 4 and 5. While this week features India stories on pages 5 and 6, next week will debut a dedicated Arts, Community, and Lifestyle centrespread. This vibrant section will include our “Dosa Pop Culture” and food-related content. India-specific coverage, including the classic “India in 2 Minutes,” will now move to pages 8 and 9, with the Editor’s Beat, puzzles, and horoscopes anchored on page 10.
Looking Ahead
This realignment is more than just a page shuffle; it is a strategic signal of our growth. If the stars align, we aim to further expand our coverage of the Indian diaspora, education, and youth, potentially increasing our print volume to accommodate these vital verticals.
Furthermore, we are thrilled to announce that tabla! is now bundled with the Friday edition of Tamil Murasu (TM). This move significantly boosts our circulation and provides TM readers with added value, bridging our communities through quality journalism.
We are currently in a phase of experimentation, and your feedback is the most important part of that process. Please share your thoughts and ideas with us at tabla@sph.com.sg. We are committed to tailoring a better product for you – both across our digital and print platforms.
