Yuvabharathi International School Marks 14th Annual Day with ‘Moments That Matter’

The University Cultural Centre came alive on Nov 9 as Yuvabharathi International School (YBIS) hosted the 14th edition of its Annual Day celebrations, Yuvotsav 2025, themed “Moments That Matter – Les moments qui comptent.”

The three-hour event, filled with colour, emotion, and creativity, reflected the school’s commitment to holistic education and the joy of learning.

The ceremony began with a warm welcome by Masters of Ceremony Adwaita Basu and Prarthitha Das, who set the tone for the morning by highlighting life’s defining moments that inspire growth, gratitude, and togetherness.

The Chief Guest, Ms Pooja Tillu, Deputy High Commissioner of India to Singapore, graced the occasion alongside members of the management, faculty, parents, and students.

The day was “a celebration of vision, colour, and joy.” The dignitaries, including executive director S. Chandra Mohan, directors Latha Mohankumar and Naveen Chandra Mohan, then inaugurated Yuvotsav 2025, followed by a mesmerising welcome dance symbolising creativity and aspiration.

Mr Naveen presented Spectrum 2025–2026, the Annual Report highlighting the school’s achievements and future goals. The school magazine YuvaBuzz was unveiled by Ms Tillu, showcasing student creativity and expression.

In her keynote, Ms Tillu lauded YBIS for nurturing “curious minds and compassionate hearts,” urging students to “embrace every moment as an opportunity to learn and lead”.

Awards followed, recognising the proficiency winners of the academic year 2024-25. The highlight was the introduction of the Exemplary Award for the Best Outgoing Student of Class 12.

The boys’ honour went to Aashutoosh Nirupam for his excellence in academics, sports, and leadership, while Gummalan Mahathi Karthik received the girls’ award for her all-round performance and commitment to service.

The evening transitioned into Yuvotsav 2025’s cultural segment – a vibrant two-hour celebration of dance, theatre, and music.

The highlight, a skit directed by Class 12 prefect Shinde Devesh Sachin which paid tribute to Swarajya Janani Jijamata, the mother of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, as a symbol of courage and nationhood.

The dances were choreographed by Indian, Japanese, and local dance experts, captivating audiences with its fusion of tradition and modernity.
