Curiosity, people skills, and continuous learning remain critical to succeeding in today’s competitive workplace, noted the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office, and Second Minister for Finance and National Development Indranee Rajah.
She shared this and other insights about navigating the changing job landscape with around 150 participants and partners at the launch event of the Singapore Indian Development Association’s (SINDA) ‘Let Her Shine!’ Career Clinic series on March 14.
Especially designed for young Indian women aged 16 to 35, the series will equip participants with practical skills, industry exposure, and professional networks to help them to pursue their career aspirations with greater clarity and confidence.
“Career clinics like these play an important role in building confidence – from CV preparation and interview readiness to professional presentation and understanding employer expectations,” Miss Indranee said.
“More importantly, they reinforce the value of self-belief and building on strong educational foundations,” the minister added.
The series will be led by a core team of 30 female thought leaders and industry professionals who have been longstanding supporters of SINDA’s ‘Let Her Shine!’ initiative.
Representing sectors such as healthcare, uniformed services, STEM, communications, law, public policy, finance and banking, and entrepreneurship, they will provide participants with professional guidance across a diverse range of fields.
Ms Sandhya Dovedi, Partnerships Manager at LinkedIn, conducted a “LinkedIn 101” workshop at the launch event, where she shared insights on strengthening professional presence and building effective resumes.
“Through this partnership, we hope to empower more young women with the resources, skills and connections needed to unlock meaningful career opportunities and confidently take their next steps into the workforce,” Ms Sandhya said.
All the participants received a complimentary one-year LinkedIn Premium subscription, and customised office wear sets, each comprising a blouse and formal pants, from local fashion brand Wolf & Byrd.
“Fashion has always been about more than garments for us. It is about dignity, confidence and storytelling,” said Ms Bhajinder Kaur, founder of Wolf & Byrd.
“Partnering with SINDA allows us to bring that philosophy into real lives by supporting young women at a meaningful turning point,” Ms Kaur added.
A participant of the ‘Let Her Shine!’ initiative, Ms Jhanani Ramesh, 26, had the opportunity to share about her journey with the programme on stage, dressed in the outfit she had received from Wolf & Byrd.
“This initiative gave me a boost of confidence. It reminded me that with the right support and resources, young women like me can pursue opportunities we might not have considered before,” said Ms Jhanani, a training quality executive.
The career clinic series will feature eight sessions held throughout the year, comprising workshops, webinars, and guided discussions. The sessions will help participants identify their strengths and interests, explore suitable career pathways and gain practical insights through one-to-one consultations and peer engagement.
Participants will also develop key professional and soft skills while gaining access to internships, training opportunities and other career resources.
