The Marwari Mitra Mandal (Singapore) brought festive sparkle to the city with its much-anticipated Annual Diwali Ball 2025, held at the Grand Ballroom of the Ritz-Carlton Hotel on Nov 2.
The glittering evening was a celebration of light, unity, and heritage – reflecting the community’s enduring connection to its roots while embracing Singapore’s multicultural spirit.
The event was graced by Minister of State for Culture, Community and Youth, and Manpower Dinesh Vasu Dash as Guest of Honour, alongside India’s High Commissioner to Singapore Shilpak Ambule and Mountbatten MP Gho Sze Kee.
Guests were treated to a vibrant programme of music, dance, and camaraderie, highlighted by a captivating live performance from the band Humsufi, whose fusion of rock and qawwali rhythms electrified the ballroom.
The evening also featured sumptuous cuisine and heartfelt felicitations, creating a festive atmosphere that embodied the true spirit of Deepavali.
Founded in 2005, the Marwari Mitra Mandal (MMM) has grown into a dynamic cultural platform representing the Marwari diaspora in Singapore. Through its activities, the organisation promotes social welfare, education, and community engagement while preserving Indian traditions.
“Our members come from different parts of India and the world, bringing a rich blend of languages, traditions, and values,” said Mr Sunil Garg, President of MMM. “The Diwali Ball is more than a celebration – it’s about fostering unity, showcasing our heritage, and giving back to society.”
Vice-President Prakash Hetamsaria echoed this sentiment, calling the event “a platform where culture meets compassion and tradition inspires togetherness.”
Over the past two decades, the Diwali Ball has become one of the highlights of Singapore’s Indian cultural calendar. It symbolises not just the triumph of light over darkness but also the enduring bonds that connect the Marwari community with Singapore’s multicultural society.
Guests, including Harry Gurnani, President of the Singapore Sindhi Association, praised the event’s impeccable organisation and lively atmosphere.
“It was a delightful evening – beautifully executed, full of warmth, and truly uplifting,” he said.
