Amid the cricket World Cup fever, Madame Tussauds Singapore on Monday unveiled a wax figure of Indian cricket star Virat Kohli.

The 34-year-old, who made his international debut in 2008, is considered one of the best cricketers India has ever produced. The former Indian captain is known for his aggressive batting and leadership skills.

Kohli’s wax figure appears in the national official kit donated by the cricketer himself. The figure is placed in the Sports Zone, alongside the wax figures of other sporting legends such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Yao Ming and Sachin Tendulkar.

Madame Tussauds Singapore general manager Steven Chung said: “We are proud to add Virat Kohli’s figure to our line-up of sporting icons. His unwavering commitment to excellence, coupled with his charismatic personality, has earned him a special place in the hearts of millions. Kohli fans around the world can now come to Madame Tussauds Singapore to connect with their hero on a whole new level and feel his aura.”

Kohli expressed his gratitude to the museum for this special tribute. “I sincerely appreciate the efforts and incredible work in making my figure. Thanks to Madame Tussauds for choosing me for this lifetime experience. I am grateful to my fans for their love and support.”

Singapore Cricket Association president Mahmood Gaznavi said it is wonderful to have a legendary cricketer’s figure in Singapore. “We are thrilled to be part of a modern-day great having his launch in Singapore. Virat Kohli is a symbol of strength, character and skill all rolled into one.”
