Immerse in the rich heritage of the harvest festival Pongal at the Indian Heritage Centre’s (IHC) Pongal Open House 2024.

Traditionally celebrated over four days, Pongal marks the beginning of the auspicious Tamil month of Thai. IHC has arranged an exciting array of programmes on Jan 13 and 14.

Its Pongal Open House this year is themed The Sun, an ode to the star’s warmth and radiance, and of sunlight’s critical role in the cycles of nature and an abundant harvest.

Visitors can:

• Engage in a hands-on crafts activity and take part in the Harvest Dance and storytelling session.

• Explore Tamil culture’s agricultural roots on a nature retreat at Kranji Farm.

• Go on a journey through Little India to learn how Pongal is celebrated.

• Take part in a Pongal Cooking Demonstration by Chef Annil Ravindran and a Tanjore Art Workshop.

• Watch live music and dance performances.

Registration is required for selected programmes at https://ihc-programmes.peatix.com

Admission to IHC is free for Singaporeans and Permanent Residents.
